I always knew I wanted to work with animals from a very young age, I didn't know a veterinary nurse job existed till I was a teenager and started volunteering in veterinary clinics. I applied to a few different schools out of high school and ended up at Fairview College in Northern Alberta where I graduated from the AHT program in 2000.
This is the second time I have been at Acadia, I first worked here before having my kids in 2003, I recently rejoined the clinic in 2014.
The area of veterinary medicine that interests me the most? I find at this point in my career it's always changing, one day I really enjoy teaching then the next week I am really interested in a medicine case. I always enjoy dentistry and anesthesia.
My first pet was a poodle named Pierre.
What I love about my job is how you develop a fondness for the pets we see on an ongoing basis, having a chronic condition is never nice for the owners or the pets but seeing improvements is always a rewarding part of the job!
My favourite thing about Acadia Drive is the variety of treatments and surgeries we are able to do here, there is never a dull moment!!
Outside of work, my happy place is watching my children play sports! All spring and summer I spend a lot of time on baseball fields and the basketball courts in the winter! I LOVE every minute of it!
