Shalene Derkach

Born and raised in Calgary. My love for animals started at a young age, bringing home lost dogs, and starting a dog walking business at the gave of 11. As an adult, my home is always full of animals. Currently, I have 6: my 3 cats, Casanova, Skittles & Cerveza; and my three dogs, Ghost, Marley and our newest addition, Calvin. Fun little fact: Skittles and Cerveza are twins and were born in the same sac. I also have a 6-year-old daughter who shares the same passion for animals as I do.

I started at Bow Valley College, and enrolled in a veterinary assistant course. I was hired into an emergency hospital right out of school in 2021. Been in the industry for about 10 years. I love to watch surgeries and help anywhere I am needed. There is always something new to learn.

I moved to Acadia Drive in October 2020 and enjoy being a part of this giant family. I love the incredible staff, the teamwork, and the client relationships that we form.

I enjoy running and spending time with my family. Summer is when we spend most of our time being outdoors as much as possible, participating in activities such as camping and biking.
